DICT Launches National Government Portal

One Connection, One Nation

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has been pretty busy as of late. As you may know, President Duterte has been helping fan the flames to get our internet speeds up, improve the quality of service for current servies, and — more importantly, bring connectivity to those who may not have at all through the National Broadband Plan. Today, the DICT launched the National Government Portal (NGP), one of their top priority projects.

The NGP serves as a one-stop shop for Filipino citizens where they can eventually get their government documents, such as: Passport, Driver’s License, NBI Clearance, Business Permits. No need to bounce around several websites to apply for these things online, just one URL: gov.ph. This will also eliminate the need to stand in line for extended periods of time; only to be told to come back the next day. It will also let our fellow countrymen who may not live in central hubs in the country have easier access to government documents once everything is up and running.

As of right now, gov.ph is in its Beta phase and still connects to the various websites of the dfferent agencies, but they will soon be mandated to have their services in the centralized site.
