Tech Titans: Our Top 5 Global Tech Executive Close Encounters and Interviews

Tech Titans: Our Top 5 Global Tech Executive Close Encounters and Interviews

Over the last 5 years we’ve had the privilege to chat with some of the biggest names of consumer technology in the world. We were able to sit down with them either on the sidelines of major global conferences like the Mobile World Congress in Barcleona, Spain, or annual company events like Facebook F8 and Google I/O in San Francisco. For this post we look back at some of our favorite close encounters with the titans of tech.

Min-Liang Tan, CEO of Razer

In August 2014, the CEO of Razer, Min-Liang Tan, flew to the Philippines to officially open the Razer store in SM North Edsa. He invited selected bloggers to chat with him and we were part of the lucky few. He gave us a personalized tour of the store, which we captured in the video above. We had a good 30 minutes with him and his passion for gamers and his company was pronounced and genuine.

Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook

Earlier this year we flew to San Francisco to attend Facebook’s annual developer’s conference, Facebook F8. We were fortunate to have had a few minutes to chat with Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer, Sheryl Sandberg. Despite being mobbed by literally everyone in the room, she made time to chat with everyone that she could before she took the stage to deliver her welcome speech. We were able to snag a few minutes with her about the mission of Facebook to connect the world and she was even kind enough to sign a copy of her book that we had (though we made her use a Google pen, hehe).

Jerry Shen, CEO of ASUS

In May 2015, the CEO of ASUS, Jerry Shen, flew to Manila to launch the ASUS Zenfone 2. We had a long interview with him where we talked about the beliefs and strategies of ASUS with the massively successful Zenfone series. One thing I loved about the executives of ASUS was their sincere gratitude to their customers and fans. The way they would shout “thank you very much” at the stage when they would report their sales has been burned into my brain, hehe.

Hiroshi Lockheimer, SVP for Android of Google

At MWC in Barcelona, Spain

Last year we were able to meet the head of Android for Google, Hiroshi Lockheimer, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. We were part of a media roundtable with press from other Southeast Asian countries. We were the only Filipino in the room. Hiroshi shared his thoughts about Android One, how Google is going to get more people around the world connected online and using smartphones, and how Android is not just about smartphones.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google

Last, but definitely not the least, is the short chat we had with the CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai. We had the rare opportunity to talk with him during the Google I/O 2016 celebration event in the evening. We basically just went up to him, introduced ourselves, had a few exchanges, and then asked for a selfie which he gamely said yes to.

Personally allow me to just thank you all of our readers for giving us the platform to be able to do what we do. Never did I imagine that I would meet, much less talk to the people in this list. It is literally a dream come true for a geek like myself!

Cheers and here’s to the next set of interviews, selfies, and random chats with the titans of tech!
