These Leaks might confirm the Real Name of Android O

Oreo and Octopus are two of the possible names so far

As we all wait for the unveiling of Android O, we still ask ourselves: What will be the name of Google’s next-generation mobile operating system?

For one, we know that Google will be formally launching Android O on August 21–the same day when the total solar eclipse will be happening, at 2:40 PM ET in New York City. Hiroshi Lockheimer, SVP of Android, has been dropping hints at the possible name of Android O:

Given that Google’s teaser hinted at “bringing some super (sweet) new powers,” we think that the most plausible names would be Oreo and Oatmeal Cookie. A proof to our theory? this screenshot made by the eagle-eyed guys from Android Police from a now-deleted video in Google+:

However, as much as we would like to say that Oreo is the official name for Android O, do remember that Google has a reputation of trolling people with names. Remember when we taught last year Android N’s official name is Nutella, only to end up being officially named as Nougat? Just an hour after Android Police noticed the video file, Google re-uploaded the video, this time using Octopus as the file name:

Whether it is Oreo or Octopus, it’s just a name guys. What’s important is we get to know the new features of Android O, don’t you agree?
