Despite criticisms, new iPhones are selling like hotcakes

Apple has announced that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has broken new pre-order records, grabbing four million pre-orders in the first 24 hours it was offered for pre-order. According to the firm based in Cupertino, the “demand for the new iPhones exceeds the initial pre-order supply” and many of the devices that were pre-ordered will be delivered in October.

“iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”

The pre-order numbers were twice that of the iPhone 5 when it launched back in 2012. Apple did not make 2013’s pre-order numbers known.

This presents a happy problem for Apple and a dilemma for loyal customers outside the US, as supply problems may limit the availability of the new iPhones to other countries, including ours.
