Internals: The Mi MIX 2 is a real beast

The Mi MIX 2 wins in this category as it sports 6GB of RAM, with an option for 8GB RAM should you go for the ceramic-bodied Special Edition model. Aside from having more RAM, the Mi MIX 2 also comes in 128GB and 256GB models, giving users more storage for their files.

Camera: No questions with a dual rear camera setup

The G6’s dual 13-megapixel rear camera setup is quite unique as it offers a wide-angle secondary camera, which is very useful for group shots and landscape photography. The Galaxy S8, on the other hand, wins with its 8-megapixel front camera that boasts of a f/1.7 aperture.

Display: AMOLED is the way to go

While we were blown away at the bezel-less design of the Mi MIX 2, the S8’s AMOLED display has better colors compared to the IPS displays found in the Mi MIX 2 and the G6. In Facebook VP for VR Hugo Barra’s post on his unboxing of the Mi MIX 2, you can clearly see the difference between the display of the S8 with the Mi MIX 2.

Battery: The Mi MIX 2 still has long legs

While the Mi MIX 2 has a smaller battery compared to the original Mi MIX, its 3400mAh battery is bigger than those found in the S8 (which sports a 3000mAh battery) and the G6 (which has a 3300mAh battery). We haven’t had our hands on the Mi MIX 2, but we expect it to last longer than the S8 and G6.

Verdict: The Mi MIX 2 is a serious contender, but…

While the Mi MIX 2 blows away with its internals and cutting edge design, it is not that strong in the camera department, as its cameras can’t compare to the Galaxy S8’s wide aperture cameras or the G6’s dual rear cameras. Nonetheless, if the pricing of the Mi MIX 2 in the Philippines is close to its pricing in China, this makes the Mi MIX 2 a potential flagship killer.
