BlackBerry’s flagship DTEK60 has officially been unwrapped for public consumption. A collaborative effort between BlackBerry and TCL, Alcatel’s parent company, the DTEK60 is a premium handset that showcases the usual BB security features partnered with a high-end Snapdragon 820 chipset. Let’s do a quick recap of the spec sheet.

Blackberry DTEK60

  • 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor
  • Adreno 530 graphics processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, 2560 x 1440 resolution
  • 32GB internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD
  • 21-megapixel rear camera, f/2.0, phase detection AF, dual-tone LED flash, 4K video
  • 8-megapixel front camera, f/2.2, 1080p video

  • Fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • 3000mAh battery, Li-Ion, non-removable, Quick Charge 3.0

The DTEK60, considering its retail price of $499 (~Php 25K) is actually an interesting deal given the specifications, not to mention having the usual slew of BlackBerry security features. At that price range, you’re getting a high-performance, highly secure handset that won’t break the bank like most flagship offerings. Add the DTEK60 to your list of choices if you’re gunning for a flagship-tier smartphone for the Holidays.

Apparently, the DTEK60 won’t be the last BlackBerry phone to be released under the brand, according to Marty Beard, the company’s COO. Guess we can expect more devices from these guys next year. The rumored Blackberry Mercury with a physical keyboard hasn’t been unveiled yet, anyway.
