Meet the Braven 710!

Braven has made a stellar reputation for shipping outstanding premium wireless speakers that boast of very balanced yet powerful sound quality and amazing hardware design and build. Over the last few years they’ve released a variety of products in different sizes, form, and shapes. Their newest offering, the Braven 710, combines the best of several of their previous products into one device that is an absolute must-buy for music lovers who want to take their tunes with them when they’re outdoors or on-the-go.

In a sentence, the Braven 710 is a water resistant wireless (NFC/Bluetooth) speaker that also doubles as a powerbank that’s wrapped in aircraft-grade aluminum. It comes in four colors: gold, gray, black, and blue. The unit we got was the gold variant so it would match our gold iPhone 6, hehe.

Usability is much better compared to the previous Braven devices. The control buttons are now bigger and easier to press (unlike the circular ones in the past). Pairing is easier since the Braven 710 sports an NFC chip at the bottom. All you have to do is turn on NFC on your phone, press it to the bottom of the speakers, and it will automatically connect via Bluetooth. Note though that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus don’t have that functionality and it won’t work with the Braven 710. Usual flagship Androids though like the LG G3, Xperia Z3, and Galaxy Note 4 should all have NFC.

The input/output sockets are covered by an airtight rubber block on the side. This keeps the Braven 710 water resistant. You have the usual stuff there from audio, micro USB, and USB (for charging your mobile devices). Don’t expect too much though from the charging capabilities of the 710. It gave us an additional 35% on our LG G3. That should be around 1300-1600mAh.

When it comes to sound quality, the Braven 710 will not disappoint, especially if you’re a casual listener. The aptX encoded audio and the drivers of these speaker is just beastly. You can easily fill up a room with whatever you wanna play on it. We did notice though that at max volume distortion starts to set it which we never saw with the earlier Braven 650 (predecessor of the 710). It is loads better though than the Jambox in the same price range.

The Braven 710 retails for Php7,450 and you can get ’em at the various branches of Beyond the Box and Digital Walker. Makes for the perfect Christmas gift for your music-loving techie best friend. 😛
