Another budget offering with KitKat from Cherry Mobile?
You know we’ve been interested in Cherry Mobile’s upcoming Urban smartphone not because of its specs, but because it’s possibly one of the first locally branded phones with KitKat on board. Now Cherry Mobile has further piqued our interest with another KitKat equipped budget device, the 1.5GHz dual-core Fusion Aura because of the same reason.

As of now we’re still in the dark about what particular processor the Fusion Aura (and by extension, the Urban) packs that allows it to use KitKat out of the box. After the demonstration of the said operating system on an Android smartphone that we presume to be the Urban, it’s no longer really under debate if Cherry Mobile can indeed fulfill its promise of delivering KitKat on its upcoming phones. What we’re interested in right now is if these two devices are running MediaTek processors. If they are indeed running MediaTek SOCs, it’d be interesting to see if the company would finally follow through on the rumored promise of releasing KitKat updates for their SOCs. One can only hope.
