High Quality Android Tablet for Php5,999

Two years ago most Android tablets being sold for under Php10,000 were crappy, useless, and a waste of cash. That all changed though when prices of Qualcomm processors went down and MediaTek introduced more competitive offerings at much lower prices. The combined depreciation of prices of processors, LCD panels, and cameras paved the way for more useable and enjoyable budget-friendly Android tablets. One of those tablets is the new Evo Litepad 8. At Php5,999 it delivers a premium Aluminum build and respectable internals.

Here’s a rundown of the specifications:

Evo LitePad 8 Spec Sheet

  • 1.2GHz Quad-core Processor A31s (Allwinner)
  • PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU
  • 1GB DDR3 RAM
  • 16GB Internal Storage, expandable via microSD Card up to 32GB
  • 7.85″ IPS Display, 1024 x 768 resolution
  • 2.0-megapixels primary camera
  • VGA secondary camera
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3 Axis Gyro, Accelerometer
  • Mini HDMI 1.4 to HDMI Output
  • 4k Video Playback
  • Aluminum Shell
  • USB OTG Capable
  • Android Jelly Bean 4.2
  • 4,000mAh Battery

I know the “Allwinner” chipset doesn’t probably excite everyone but that’s only because we’re not aware of the brand. They’re pretty well known in China and their chipsets are found in a lot of Android devices around the world.

Anyway, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and the only way we’ll know if this is actually worth the Php5,999 is if we give it a thorough review. And that’s exactly what you guys will get in a few days! The local distributor sent us a review unit and we’re going to publish the unboxing soon and the full review will follow shortly.
