Five Reasons to Buy the OnePlus 5

In case you’ve been holding out on getting the “Flagship Killer”

We’ve had the OnePlus 5 for awhile now and we’ve already done our full review for this year’s version of the “Flagship Killer”. In case you missed out on reading it or watching our quick review on our YouTube channel, here are five reasons why the OnePlus 5 is a good flagship alternative.

Flagship Level Specs and Performance

Equipped with this year’s flagship SoC of choice, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, and paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, it’s no surprise that the OnePlus 5 performs incredibly well. We’ve all thought that 8GB of RAM might be overkill but, now that we’ve experienced it ourselves, we’re pretty sure that it’ll keep the heaviest of smartphone users happy as they bounce around from app to app.

That Sub 30K Price Tag

Let’s get this out of the way, because this is undoubtedly one of the best reasons to get the OnePlus 5. Priced below Php 30k and armed with a top-tier processing package, it’s no wonder this device (and its predecessors) have been given the “Flagship Killer” moniker. Yes, there are some flagship features missing on the OnePlus 5 but, at that price tag, it’s pretty hard to complain

Dual Rear Cameras

The OnePlus 5 is the first device from the brand to be equipped with dual rear cameras. The primary camera is a 16-megapixel camera with an f-stop of f/1.7. It’s got a Sony IMX398 sensor and also has electronic image stabilization. Its secondary camera has a higher megapixel count at 20-megapixels with an aperture of f/2.6 and is a telephoto lens that is set to 1.6x zoom. We’re still keen on the camera found on the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the Huawei P10 Plus, but the one on the OnePlus 5 is no slouch either.

The Dash Charger

Phones are no good if they don’t have any juice. While the OnePlus 5’s 3300mAh battery can typically last a full day before you have to plug in, you don’t want to be hugging a wall for too long when you do have to charge your device. The Dash Charger on the OnePlus 5 gets you up to 60% of juice in half an hour, so you be back on the go in no time.

Local Support in the Philippines

While you can already purchase the OnePlus 5 from online retailers, such as Widget City, Digital Walker has already begun accepting pre-orders for the device if you can wait a little longer to get your hands on the “Flagship Killer”. Just like the OnePlus 3T, it will have an Official Warranty from the company since they are officially partnered up.

We’ve mentioned it in previous articles, but it’s worth mentioning again. The OnePlus 5 doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of a flagship, but if you’re more into having an extremely powerful smartphone and things like IP68 certification takes a back seat — then you should definitely consider getting this device.
