HTC has put their familiar dual-camera setup on the Butterfly 2, with a twist. While the secondary camera is still the depth sensing one similar to the One M8, the ultrapixel sensor of the old camera has been replaced with a more conventional 13-megapixel sensor. Unlike the One M8, the Butterfly J sports a mainly plastic body, though now it’s capable of withstanding Mother Nature’s wrath – if only for a short time – as it’s IP57 certified, meaning it’s dust proof and water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes.

HTC has said that it’ll be available in Asian markets, specifically its home turf in Taiwan beginning September 2, and will roll out in other markets like Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. No word on when it will be released locally (if it will even be released here) though we’re sure online sellers like Kimstore and Widget City will carry this before long.
