Another affordable smartphone incoming?

Huawei’s Honor brand of affordable, bang-for-the-buck devices is making good headway in China and to some extent here in the Philippines, so it’s only natural for the company to try and get into more markets. The sub-brand of Huawei is purported to be launching in Russia and it’s taking a yet unannounced phone with it.

The new device, codenamed Cherry, is set to retail for RUB 13,000 (Php 10044) to RUB 15,000 (Php 11589) sports a design that’s reminiscent of the company’s recently announced 4X. It’s pegged to come with the company’s own Kirin 620 octa-core processor, as well as a 5-inch display, 13-megapixel front, LTE and dual-SIM capabilities.

If these specs ring a bell, that’s because it’s exactly what the Honor 4X comes packing (though the 4X comes with a bigger, 5.5-inch display). The design of the new, unannounced smartphone also resembles the 4X, though there are some differences in the port placement of the device. If we were to guess this maybe a new 4X derivative made for Russia, though we’re hoping we’re wrong since that would mean it’ll be a whole new smartphone.
