Huawei Unveils Their Own VR Headset In China

Another player has joined the VR game

VR is apparently the next hot vertical for companies to get into, and emerging giant Huawei isn’t going to let its rivals go at it without them. They’ve officially announced their own VR headset in China, and much like the offerings of its chief rival Samsung, it requires a Huawei-made smartphone to work.

That phone is the recently announced P9 and P9 Plus smartphone, which makes Huawei’s VR headset the first in the world to use a USB Type-C connector. Just like the offering of Samsung, Huawei’s solution has touchpads and controls baked in so people can use the device easily, though obviously the headset has the handicap of using a 1080p display compared to their rivals.
