IFA 2017: Acer Releases New Spin, Swift, and Switch Notebooks

While Acer has been making gigantic strides to promote their Predator gaming sub-brand, the company hasn’t forgotten about their notebooks that are built for those who need a light and portable workstation for taking around the streets of Metro Manila. Today, they introduced three new notebooks that are all lightweight but packed with an 8th generation Intel Core processor to help you get the job done.

Switch 7 Black Edition: Fanless but with a NVIDIA GeForce 150MX

The Switch 7 Black Edition is the world’s first fanless 2-in-1 notebook equipped with a discrete graphics card. You have the 8th generation Intel processor running the show, but it also has a NVIDIA GeForce 150Mx; meaning this thin and light notebook can actually game a bit on 1080p with a few tweaks to graphical settings of the games you intend to play. The Switch 7 Black Edition has a 13.5-inch IPS display, whose native resolution is 2256×1504, and has an embedded stylus powered by Wacom’s EMR technology.

The Acer Switch 7 Black Edition will be available in North America in December with prices starting at $1,699 (~Php87k).

 

Swift 5: A balance between power and portability

The Swift 5’s makes use of magnesium-lithium alloy for its top and bottom cover, and magnesium-aluminum alloy for its palm rest area, making the whole laptop weigh less than 1kg. Being ultra light and portable, the Swift 5 has as much as 8 hours of battery life, making it perfect for those who are always on the go. For its display, the Swift 5 uses a narrow bezel design, incorporating a multi-touch Full HD IPS display.

The Acer Swift 5 will be available in North America in December starting at $999 (~Php 51.2k).

 

 

 

Spin 5: A Professional’s go-to work and play device

Coming in 13-and-15-inch variants, the Spin 5 is a lightweight and 2-in-1 notebook: the 13-inch model of the Spin 5 weighs in at 1.5 kg and measures in at 15.9 mm thin, while its 15-inch sibling is just over 2 kg in weight and 17.9 mm thin. Options for the Spin 5 include up to 16GB of DDR4 memory and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card for the 15-inch model. Both models also have two front-facing speakers for the best audio quality possible, and four array microphones with far-field voice-recognition technology that allows users to access Cortana to as far as four meters. An optional Acer Active Stylus can be used with both models for work using Windows Ink.

The Acer Spin 5 will be available in North America in September with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models starting at $799 (~Php41k)
