Low cost tablets with LTE coming with Intel’s newest silicone?
Today we came from Intel’s Mobility Roadshow, where the chipmaker gave us an update of sorts on how devices running their processors are getting along as well as giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the company in the next few months. Obviously, talk about the future invariably went to the company’s next processors, codenamed Merrifield and Moorefield.
Both devices are supposed to hit the market this year, with Merrifield giving users dual-core LTE, while Moorefield is supposed to deliver LTE backed with a quad-core processor. The former is supposed to hit the market in the first half of 2014, while the latter is scheduled to arrive on the second half. Since Intel has an active partnership with several local manufacturers including Starmobile, it’s not too far-fetched to imagine that we might just get a low-cost Intel-powered tablet that has LTE built-in.
