iPhone 5 Coming this October to the PH?

Not the actual unit, just a mock-up

iPhone 5 coming to the Philippines SOON

Ultimate Tech Blogger Abe Olandres of Yugatech just dropped a bomb on his blog. According to Abe, one major newspaper editor here in the Philippines will be getting a preview of Apple’s latest baby – the iPhone 5. I find this fascinating because Apple isn’t the type that gives previews like this to their products. We usually see them all at the same time when they do their keynotes. Maybe this is a difference in style between Tim Cook and Steve Jobs?

Anyway, since the iPhone 5 will be previewed this month it’s safe to say that we’ll see it go public in October. That’s pretty good timing considering Samsung and Sony Ericsson dropped bombs of their own during IFA 2011.

What do we know about the iPhone 5?

Here are some of the rumors that we rounded up about the iPhone 5:

  • It will have a bigger display. Probably 4″. Smaller bezel. It will be thinner and lighter compared to the iPhone 4 (not much though).
  • Faster processor. We’re estimating 1.5Ghz.
  • Better camera. Maybe 8MP and a more effective lens that will capture even better pics in low light conditions.
  • 4G capable? LTE/HSPA+?
What I’m really hoping for is that iOS 5 will also be released together with iPhone 5. This is a much needed update for iPhone 4 users. I’ve been testing Android lately and I’m almost 80% sure that I will switch simply because of how good the notification system is of Android, hehe. 🙂
Will keep  you guys posted about the iPhone 5.

  1. Apple always gives special previews to journalists of the NYT and WSJ so during the launch there are already reviews available.
