Kata looking to enter highly competitive entry level market

We were invited by Kata Digital to a bloggers night out a few days ago to show us their newest device, the Kata M3 (unboxing soon!) and to talk shop about their plans in the Philippines. Their CEO, Mr. David Chen was on hand during the event and talk invariably went towards the future of the brand. Even though the company has relatively been silent in the past few years, only really making a solid push back in January when they contacted the tech press in the PH for their I3 smartphone. Well, the brand wants to change all of that, and aside from building more stores all around the metro, the company is also strengthening their distribution channels in different parts of the country, especially in key provinces.

Mr. Chen also said that they are looking to enter the highly competitive budget phone device market with their own offerings, but unlike their main competitor Cherry Mobile, they will come out with a single device for every screen size, which focuses their efforts and doesn’t dilute the market with same-looking smartphones. Speaking of screen sizes, the company is looking at 3.5-inches, 4-inches, 4.5-inches, 5-inches and so on for their offerings.

As far as octa-core goes, Mr. Chen says that a device is already in the works, but won’t be ready until June at the earliest. We’re honestly excited at what Kata Digital will bring to the local octa-core scene which has been continuously heating up in the past few months – we’re sure they will retain their solid build quality and killer pricing to any octa-core smartphones they launch in the near future.
