Meet the Lenovo Miix 2 8!

Lenovo Philippines has just launched their newest and greatest 8-inch Windows 8 Tablet, the Miix 2 today at the Romulo Cafe in Makati. While all the attention today was given to the small, 8-inch tablet, another bigger version of the Miix 2, unimaginatively named Miix 2 11 will also be hitting the shelves soon. The Miix 2 8-inch is Lenovo’s attempt to break into the highly competitive 8-inch tablet market. Let’s check out the specs:

Lenovo Miix 2 8 specs

  • 1.33GHz Quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 processor
  • 2GB of LPDDR3 memory
  • 8-inch IPS HD display, 1280×800
  • 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD

Lenovo says that it’s one of the slimmest and lightest 8-inch Windows 8 tablets in the world. While we really don’t encounter too many 8-inch Windows tablets here in Unbox HQ, the Lenovo Miix 2 8 was indeed pretty light and slim. Its overall build quality is pretty good, despite its predominantly plastic construction. The 8-inch IPS display was nice and bright, and had good color reproduction overall. Its processor is the same one that Asus uses for its Transformer Book T100, and based on our experience with that particular unit, Intel’s Bay Trail Quad-core processor is surprisingly capable.

Lenovo is also promising battery life of around 7 hours for the Miix 2 8, along with 3G functionality (it has a SIM slot inside) and Microsoft Office 2013 bundled in. Lenovo will also be offering a spiffy cover that attaches to the side of the Miix 2 8 via magnets which also doubles as a folding stand. The cover also includes a stylus. Talk about value!

The Lenovo Miix 2 8 retails for Php 21,999. Pretty pricey we know, but then again it’s one of the few 8-inch Windows 8 devices in the market today. Its bigger brother, the Miix 2 11, will hit the market with an SRP of 47,990.
