Nokia lives!

If you all thought that Nokia was out of the hardware game, think again – the company just announced their Android 5.0 packing N1 tablet. This is a big surprise from the Finnish company that once was extremely cozy with Microsoft, though we’re definitely excited that the company is back in consumer tech.

What’s even more surprising is that Nokia has taken more than its fair share of design liberties from Cupertino’s own tablet offerings. If you didn’t know what you were looking at, you’d probably mistake the N1 as something that Apple’s own engineers would come up with. That doesn’t mean that the N1 is ugly – quite the opposite. The N1’s chassis is milled from a single piece of aluminum, which lends it additional strength and makes it one of the prettiest Android tablets to date.

Nokia’s also seen fit to put their own, custom Z Launcher into the device. It works by keeping track of the apps and features you use more often and slowly filter them up the homescreen so you can access them faster.

On the hardware side the N1 uses Intel’s Atom Z3580 64-bit processor, along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage which should ensure the device is fast and snappy when it officially lands in stores in Febraury of next year, bearing a price tag of $250 or Php 11242.
