We really hope Lenovo brings this to the PH

While the octa-core smartphone market is heating up in the PH, it’s nothing compared to China where multiple brands are slashing prices like crazy trying to one-up each other. This includes international powerhouse Lenovo, and in a move that’s meant to undercut their competitors, the company has allegedly released their octa-core phablet smartphone, the Golden Warrior S8, with a price point of just $125, or Php 5457 for the basic version of the smartphone (1GB RAM, 8GB storage), making it the cheapest one ever. The slightly higher specc’d variant (2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage) goes for slightly higher, at around Php 7196 pesos.

Lenovo Golden Warrior S8 specs

  • 1.4GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6592M
  • 1GB RAM/2GB RAM
  • 5.3-inch HD display, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 720 x 1280 resolution
  • 8GB/16GB internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 32GB
  • 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 5-megapixel front camera
  • Dual SIM (mini-SIM, dual standby)
  • TD-SCDMA
  • Wi-Fi, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS
  • 2000mAh battery
  • Android 4.2

Unfortunately, the Lenovo Golden Warrior S8 is a China-only smartphone for now (TD-SCDMA) but who knows, the company may make an international edition of this smartphone for export to emerging markets like ours. If they do decide to do that, expect this one to sell like hotcakes.
