We go hands-on (again) on the MX4 Pro!

A few months ago we (briefly) got our hands-on the first MX4 Pro in the Philippines and came away impressed with Meizu’s flagship. Novo7 Tech, the crew that sells Meizu phones in the Philippines have finally made good on their promise to get the MX4 Pro to our country, and now it’s here and on sale in their stores. Today we’ll be going hands-on again with the MX4 Pro to show you what to expect from the device.

Initial Impressions: Really feels like an upsized MX4

If you put the MX4 and the MX4 Pro together, you’ll be surprised at how much both devices look alike. The MX4 Pro retains the iPhone 3G looks of its smaller brother, along with the premium looking chamfered aluminum frame. The screensize of the MX4 Pro has been bumped up to 5.5-inches, though the MX4 Pro looks and feels like a smartphone that only has a 5-inch display.

Much of this is because of the extremely thin bezels on the MX4 Pro which allows Meizu to stuff the big, 5.5-inch 1536 x 2560 resolution display in a package that’s much smaller than your typical 5.5-incher. The display looks great on the MX4 Pro and because of the astounding ppi the icons look nice and sharp on the phone. There’s not a lot of phones out there with a 2K display screen, especially at the price-point that the MX4 Pro plays at.

The hardware of the MX4 Pro should be familiar by now, as it’s Samsung’s own Exynos 5 octa-core processor that powers the Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy Note 4. The processor is quick, fast and a benchmark behemoth, and supports LTE. Both times that we saw the MX4 Pro we were impressed how responsive and fast the phone was because of its processor, and to be honest we were not surprised considering what powers the device.

The MX4 Pro retails at Php 20,990, which is a bit more expensive than what Meizu usually sells. But looking at the hardware the price may be justified, though only a full review can reveal if it is worth (almost) 21,000 big ones.
