We’ve seen Bluetooth speakers pull double duty before, usually as an alarm clock that sits on your desk. But this is the first time that we’ve ever seen a Bluetooth speaker moonlight as a lightbulb. That’s right – MiPOW’s Playbulb Color acts as a light and a speaker that can stream music to any place in your home! This is a cool little concept that will literally flood your house with music and pretty, multicolor lights.

You connect and control the Playbulb Color via an app that you download either through iTunes or the Google Play Store. Once you connect to the device, you can stream your tunes to the lightbulb and change the color of the lighting depending on your mood (and even program it to flash to complete the entire tugs-tugs experience). There’s also an option to add a bit of atmosphere to unwind after a stressful day, and set the bulbs to pulsate, flash or change colors like a rainbow.

The best part is that the bulb uses the same thread as regular lightbulbs so you can install it quickly and easily without special fittings. The bulb only uses 5 watts of power while it’s on, so it’s even more affordable to run compared to a flourescent light. The bulb has a runtime of 5 years (continous use).

If you’re interested in the Playbulb Color, take heed: it’s not going to be cheap. It’s currently priced at Php 3,999, which is plenty expensive for a light bulb. If you just want the pretty changing lights, you’ll be happy to know that there’s a more affordable model dubbed the Playbulb Rainbow which retails for Php 1,999.
