Nokia N9 Unboxing!

Finally… the Nokia N9 unboxing!

I have a confession to make. Even though I made a video bashing the Nokia N9, I’ve always wanted to get my hands on one. I’ve always found the device intriguing especially since it’s been getting a lot of rave reviews online. That came to me as a surprise because the Nokia N9 actually received a lot of flak when it was first unveiled due to the Meego OS that it was carrying.

Nokia PH, through their PR Firm, decided to send a demo unit over to us for the weekend. I’d like to share the initial unboxing pictures, videos, and our initial impressions. As usual don’t forget to check the captions below the photos!

Unboxing the Nokia N9

The Nokia N9 comes in a simple blue box with the color of the unit displayed at the top. The Nokia N9 either comes in light blue, magenta, or black. We received the black model.
When you slide out the box and open it you'll find the sleek Nokia N9 proudly staring back at you. I was immediately stunned when I saw how beautiful this thing was. The curved glass screen is gorgeous. It looks nothing like the "Giant iPod Nano" that we thought it would be (yeah eating my words, haha).
Turned it on and we're greeted by the grid of apps. Icons are kinda circular. Over-all interface is very fluid, smooth, and intuitive. For an OS that's set to die soon (because Windows OS is around the corner), Meego is actually good. Again look at how nice the curved glass screen is. I just can't get over it!
The Nokia N9 has a generous 3.9" AMOLED screen but it's not that bulky at all. It's actually quite light and you'll see from this photo that it's still thin. Note the volume controls and lock/unlock at the right side. The SIM tray and micro USB port is at the top.
Here's what the back looks like. You'll find the 8MP camera there with the Nokia brand.

What else is in the box?

Earphones, charger, micro USB cable, Nokia N9, and a silicone skin case that matches the color of your unit!

Nokia N9 Unboxing Video

We prepared a short video to show the unboxing process. We’ll try to do this every time we have an unboxing article. 🙂

Nokia N9 Initial Impressions

I haven’t tried it out for more than two hours yet but I’m honestly impressed. I’m really happy with how they designed this phone. It just takes your breath away! With regards to the OS it’s pretty fluid and smooth. We’ll use the Nokia N9 extensively in the next few days. Hopefully we can have the review up soon.

If you want one you can order via Smart postpaid. You can get the Nokia N9 free with Smart’s Unlimited Data Plan 2000 (16GB), 3000 (64GB), All-in Plan 3500 (16GB). If you want the prepaid kit you can get it for PhP 24,990 (16GB)/PhP29,450 (64GB).
