Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 653 chipset did indeed make an appearance inside the R9s Plus, as the leaks correctly predicted. The 6-inch phablet, although packing great internals, is still considered a midrange smartphone, due to the SoC being positioned as such.

The OPPO R9s is currently pegged at $415 (~Php 20K) while the bigger R9s Plus sits at the $520 (~Php 25K) price range.

Considering OPPO’s local presence, there’s a high chance of these powerful midrangers arriving in Philippine stores. Although, there’s also the possibility that the company might reconfigure them for local use, like what they did to the F1s. We’ll find out soon enough, so stay tuned to Unbox.
