Do you remember when Nokia first introduced a phone with a camera? Do you remember the picture quality on that thing? We’ve come along way since then and the landscape of mobile photography has certainly changed. We now have entire campaigns shot using a smartphone. We’ve seen more companies trying to give their product an edge by giving consumers a better way to capture moments and let’s be honest, more often than not the camera is usually what a lot of us look at when we’re in the market for a new phone. Of course, the makers of smartphone accessories have also taken notice of this and started churning out products to help us; products like: the selfie stick and lenses to significantly tweak what the cameras on our phones are capable of producing. Trouble is with all of these extra attachments, it’s another thing to think about bringing or you forget to bring them. Enter the Pocket Tripod from Geometrical Inc. & Rambod Radmard.

Geometrical Inc. & Rambod Radmard say that the Pocket Tripod is the only tripod you need, and they do make a great case for it. It was actually successfully launched in 2013 on Kickstarter with the Pocket Tripod shipping out to its 2,000 backers, and now the company is back; making improvements to their design. The Pocket Tripod neatly tucks away in your wallet (It’s as thick as 2 cards stacked on top of each other) and is easily transformed with a few twists come picture time. In 2013, it was also exclusive to iPhone users, but now they’ve made it available to a wider range of users and the Pocket Tripod is now universal with several sizes than can handle devices both with or without a case; you can even purchase adapters, if you change your phone in the future.

You can adjust the angle on it and is versatile enough to be put on top of different surfaces. Perfect for time-lapse videos or long exposures when you feel brave enough to delve into your phone’s manual setting. It certainly beats having to create a makeshift device out of rock, twigs, or anything else lying around to prop up your phone to get the shot you want.

As of now, the Pocket Tripod is on Kickstarter and is $17,000 dollars away from its goal. Depending on how much you pledge determines how much you get by backing the campaign, but at $69 or more — You get the Quad Pack, which includes: 4 Pocket Tripods with your choice of size and color, an instruction manual, a “fit card”, and free shipping (and they ship to anywhere in the world). Estimated delivery date for this batch is October of this year. Here’s their Kickstarter page if you’d like to back them.

The Pocket Tripod is certainly something we’d like to have in our back pocket and I guess we’ll have to wait a couple of months to see whether or not it is the only phone tripod we’ll need.
