Samsung Galaxy Note 2 announced at IFA 2012
Samsung finally revealed the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at IFA 2012 in Berlin Germany. This is the sequel to the surprisingly successful Galaxy Note which recorded millions in unit sales. What’s the story with this new model? It’s slightly bigger, has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, S Pen enhancements and applications, Super AMOLED HD Display, and it has monstrous specs. Seriously… the processor and RAM on this thing can actually beat the ones you see on notebooks!

It’s all about the S Pen
During the product presentation, Samsung really highlighted the value of the S Pen. To emphasize this, they made significant improvements both on the software and hardware. The new S Pen is now three-quarters the length of the Galaxy Note 2 which means it’s easier to grip and use. It also has a rubberized tip which gives you a pen-like friction sensation. Lastly, they upped pressure sensitivity to 1024 levels versus the previous Note’s 256 levels.
On the software side they implemented Air View. This new feature lets you see previews of specific contents just by hovering the S Pen above it. For example, if you hover the S Pen on top of an e-mail, a small pop-up box will appear which will show you the contents of that e-mail. This can also work on videos, photo albums, and even calendars. Other S Pen software enhancements include the Popup Note (Open a Note while in a call) and Quick Command (Open a command panel were you write your commands via the S Pen).
The Galaxy Note 2 is expected to hit stores and telcos by October 2012.
