Excited for Samsung’s upcoming smartphone? We are too!

Everybody expects Samsung to pull out the oft rumored Galaxy Note 4 on September 3 during IFA. We’ve seen a couple of leaks of the device itself and specs that it will be running, but what exactly can you expect from Samsung’s upcoming phablet? Here’s a few things:

It will be big, and use metal in its construction

This is pretty much a no-brainer. The Note series of devices pioneered the trend of large-screened devices, and the Note 4 is no different. Leaks have pegged the Note 4 to carry a 5.7-inch display, as well as metal elements in its construction, a move away from the mostly plastic bodies of its predecessors. The leak from GSMArena pretty much confirms this, though there may be a small chance that Samsung changes the design at the last minute. It’s also interesting to see that the bezels are ridiculously tiny on the Note 4.

It’ll sport a new, QHD display

While it’ll come bearing the same 5.7-inch display size of the Note 3, the Note 4 is rumored to bring a 1440 x 2560 QHD display, which more than likely uses Samsung’s Super AMOLED panel. We’ve seen just how amazing high resolutions look on the company’s Super AMOLED panel by way of the Tab S, and we’re expecting pretty much the same thing with the Note 4, only awesomer.

Processor and optics

Since this is Samsung’s latest flagship, we’re sure that it’ll come loaded with the latest hi-end hardware. The Note 4 is pegged to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor that can go up to 2.7GHz. This is expected to be paired with at least 3GB of RAM (with some rumors attributing the Note 4 to having 4GB of RAM) and at least 32GB of storage. Like most of Samsung’s flagships, there will also be an Exynos version of the Note 4, though the version in the PH may be the Qualcomm one based on the devices released by Samsung PH in the past. As far as the camera is concerned, the Note 4 is expected to ship with a 16-megapixel camera, along with OIS that wasn’t included with the S5.

That’s about it. We’ll be attending Samsung’s local livestream of the unveiling of the Note 4 on September 3, and we expect the device to make an appearance there, in the flesh. We’ll be posting our hands-on and initial review then.
