The Samsung Galaxy S5 gets torture tested!

While Samsung’s latest flagship, the S5, is IP67 rated for water resistance, it’s not meant to be dunked in water for extended periods of time as the IP67 rating means that it’s only guaranteed to be able to stay functional in 1 meter of water for around 30 minutes – any more than that, the seals of the device may be overcome and the device may flood. Don’t tell the folks over at TechSmartt though, as the outfit has taken a shiny new Galaxy S5 and puts it to the ultimate test, submerging it in a pool for around an hour, 30 minutes more than the device is rated for. Not content with putting the device in the pool, they also put the Galaxy S5 in a washing machine while inside a pair of jeans, simulating a possible scenario where you forget that your phone is in your pants when you shove it in. The Galaxy S5 survived the 50 minute wash cycle without any issues, though it did manage to absorb some of the blue pigment of the jeans into its plastic back.
