Samsung USA just came out with an ad pitting their new Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 head on against Apple’s iPad Air. The ad features a guy walking around the streets of New York asking “random” people on what they think about the two tablets. As expected most of the people in the ad said that they preferred the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. You can watch the whole ad in the embedded video below.

We actually own both an iPad Air and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Based on our experience the Galaxy Tab S is a clear winner in terms of design, hardware, and display. However when it comes to user experience, app ecosystem, and over-all usability, the iPad Air is still superior. The cool thing about the Tab S though is that you can text or call with it since it has a SIM card slot.

Having said all of that, if you use tablets mainly for watching videos, social networking, and web browsing, the Galaxy Tab S is a pretty strong contender and not a poor choice at all. It’s a very good media consumption device thanks mostly to its gorgeous display (which we honestly think whoops the iPad’s screen any day of the week).
