Samsung Makes Galaxy Tab S Official, Comes in 8.4 and 10.5-inch Variants

Meet Samsung’s two newest tablets!

Samsung has taken off the wraps off of its newest high-end tablet, the Tab S. The Galaxy Tab S is the company’s highest resolution tablet, with a screen resolution of 2560×1600, aspect ratio of 16:10 (which is the same as their recently released tablets) and utilizes an AMOLED panel. The Tab S was made with superior viewing in mind, and the AMOLED panel has been tweaked to reflect that. Samsung boasts that the AMOLED panel on the Tab S is superior to its LCD counterparts, as it has a higher contrast ratio better color saturation and 90% ADOBE RGB coverage. The Tab S is also equipped with the mDNIe image engine.

The Galaxy Tab S is only 6.6mm thin, which makes it one of the thinnest tablets ever made. It has thin bezels, and as per the leaked photos, is influenced heavily by the design of the the Galaxy S5. Much like their previous tablets, the Tab S will also have different accesories, including different colored covers and backs that allows you to prop the Tab S when you’re using it.

The Galaxy Tab S also has multiple productivity features built-in. SideSync 3.0 allows you to connect the Tab S directly to your S5, enabling you to take calls, move files and send messages to contacts in your S5 using the Tab S. The Tab S can also connect to other Tab S devices over Wi-Fi.

Much like the S5, the Tab S has a fingerprint scanner. Aside from giving an additional layer of privacy, the fingerprint reader allows multiple people to share the tablet, with each user getting their own home screen, layout and apps.

The Wi-Fi version of the Tab S 10.5 will retail in the US come July for $499, while the 8.4 will retail for $399. In the Philippines, Samsung will only sell the 16GB, LTE version of the Tab S this July.
