Smart Bro to offer two new LTE capable Android tablets soon

After we wrote about the possible missed opportunity of the three major telcos in not offering the LTE version of the Nexus 7, Smart surprised us today by announcing that they will be bundling the Nexus 7 LTE with their Smart Bro Gadget Bundle Plan 1299!

This is great news, because the Nexus 7 (2013) is still the best Android tablet out there in the market today. The best part is that Smart isn’t really asking a lot for it (they’re even offering the roomier 32GB version as opposed to the cheaper 16GB), though you will need to pay a one time fee of Php 1,500. All things considered, the offer is pretty irresistible, since you’ll be getting the finest Android tablet today for only Php 1299 a month and using it on Smart’s LTE network, although you’re capped to 1.5GB of data a month.

If you want something a little bigger than the Nexus 7, Smart Bro is also offering the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link LTE in the Gadget Bundle Plan 1299. To be honest, we haven’t encountered the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link LTE before, though its specs look decent enough: 1.2GHz Huawei K3V2 Cortex A9 quad-core processor, 10.1-inch IPS display (1280 x 800 resolution) and 1GB of memory. The MediaPad 10 Link LTE uses the same SOC that’s present on Huawei’s previous smartphones, the humungous Ascend Mate, although the mate runs on a higher frequency (1.5GHz as opposed to the 1.2GHz of the MeidaPad 10 Link LTE.

It’s basically the same deal with the Nexus 7 as far the plan goes, though you will be paying a lower one time fee of Php 500 in addition to the Php 1299 monthly for 24 months. Like the Nexus 7, you’re capped to 1.5GB of data a month. Unfortunately, the plans aren’t available as of yet – Smart reps during the event told us that the gadgets will be made available next month at the earliest.
