SMART Bro Rocket Prepaid Speed Test Results (San Juan City)

So how fast can this thing go when connected to HSPA+?

SMART Bro Rocket now has more HSPA+ sites

I got a tweet yesterday from Gio of SMART saying that they updated the list of HSPA+ covered areas. I almost jumped in joy when I saw that my condo was included in the list! I immediately whipped out the SMART Bro Rocket Plug-it that was in my drawer, bought e-load at the nearest Mini-Stop, and did several speed tests. I was blown away with the results! Check out the screenshots below. Note that the following tests were taken at around 11PM near Club Filipino in San Juan City. :)

1st Test

The first test didn’t live up to the 12Mbps claim but it was already better than my home DSL which was is a steady 2Mbps connection. The speed on the SMART Bro Rocket Plug-it was consistently within the 3Mbps-4Mbps range.

2nd Test

I did another test past midnight and that’s when the “magic” happened. The speed almost doubled as I crossed the 6Mbps mark!

3rd Test

Past 1AM I did another speedtest and the speed increased even more. This time I was at a steady 7Mbps – 7.5Mbps! The highest recorded speed that I have is 7.58Mbps. Amazing!

I’ll do more tests today and tomorrow. During the weekend I’ll get speedtests during the afternoon and peak hours so we can get a better idea if the SMART Bro Rocket is consistent. Again please note that the speed test results were taken in an HSPA+ covered area and not the usual WCDMA or HSDPA.

  1. No HSPA+ site in Nueva Ecija? Boooo…

  2. Just kidding… But the speeds look very promising.

  3. That’s pretty decent. But i read from yuga that Smart will soon charge us P180 for every 200MB. That’s like a 5minute HD Video on YouTube. :|

  4. in cotabato city is there a HSPA site i hope so
