Sony revives the Alpha 77!

Aside from the RX100 III, Sony Philippines also unveiled the A77 II in the PH. The A77 II is aimed at semi-professional photographers looking for a solid camera with a good selection of lenses. The A77 II uses a 24.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, has 79 AF points, 12 FPS burst capability and built-in Wi-Fi.

The A77 II’s 79 AF points include 15 cross points that lie within the most frequently-used central area of the sensor. There’s even a F2.8 AF point that’s placed horizontally within the center of the sensor, supporting apertures up to F2.8.

That AF and camera sensor is paired with a BIONZ X image processor that’s also present in the company’s A7 and A7R DSLRs. The A77 II has an electronic XGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF, as well as a 3-inch, Xtra Fine LCD that’s tilt-adjustable.

The body of the A77 II is made out of tough, light magnesium. It’s weather resistant, meaning it’s rain and dust resistant but we wouldn’t recommend dunking it in water. There’s also Wi-Fi present, allowing you to share your images right after you take ’em.

Like most of Sony’s other Alpha DSLRs, the A77 II can take numerous lenses from Sony’s A-mount system. The A77 II is priced at Php 86,999, which includes the body, 16-50mm kit lens, vertical grip and a 16GB memory card.
