Sony Xperia Z1 and Smart Lenses Coming to the PH October

Part of the program of the Sony Xperia Z1 launch held in Malaysia was an interview session with their executives, Matthew Lang, Corporate Vice President and Head of Southeast Asia and Oceania, and Jason Smith, Director of Marketing for Southeast Asia and Oceania. During the session we asked them when can we expect both the Sony Xperia Z1 and the Sony Smart Lens line to be available in the Philippines. It looks like we won’t have to wait too long since they told us that both devices should be in our stores sometime in October. That’s roughly just one month away! Definitely awesome news for Xperia fans.

Which Telco Will Offer it?

According to both the regional and local Sony representatives, Smart Communications has expressed strong interest in carrying the Sony Xperia Z1. This is natural since Smart was also the telco that carried the highly successful Sony Xperia Z. This is also awesome news since the Sony Xperia Z1 is confirmed to be able to connect to Smart’s LTE network. We’ve been actually using it since we arrived last night from Malaysia and we haven’t encountered any issues with LTE speeds yet.
