Packaging and Contents

The THL T200 comes in a plain white box, with only the company’s name on top revealing that there is a smart phone nestled inside. Once you open the box you’ll see the T200 covered in white plastic, with its screen covered with a temporary screen protector.

Diving further into the contents of the box you will see the in-ear headphones, USB cable, charger and a user manual. Like most of THL’s other offerings, the T200 comes with an extra 2500mAh battery, and Novo7 Tech will be throwing in a 20000mAh battery pack as well for the first 100 buyers of the T200. Clearly, they don’t ever want you to run out of juice when you’re out and about with the T200.

Initial Impressions: big, bold, beautiful

Like we mentioned earlier, the T200 is the first ever octa-core full HD phablet to be offered here in the Philippines. It’s overall design is very S5-ish, especially when you take a look at its textured back. While we’re not really a fan of gloss white finishes, the one in the T200 is really very fetching, and the silver trim on the side of the phablet breaks up the otherwise all-white affair.

One thing we noticed is that the T200 is pretty hefty and solidly built. The 6-inch full HD OGS display was extremely sharp and beautiful, with excellent color reproduction across the board. The display was also very bright, which means that the T200 shouldn’t have any problems when you use it under direct sunlight. Because the display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, you needn’t worry about it being scratched too much. The button layout was a bit unorthodox though, with the power/lock button on the left side and the volume rocker on the right, but it’s not a big issue.

Even with the full HD display the device did not exhibit any kind of lag when we were navigating through its menus. App transitions were buttery smooth, and apps loaded nearly instantaneously when we opened them. The T200 uses a mostly stock version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which means that you won’t have to remove bloatware when you buy the device from Novo7 Tech.  As far as synthetic benchmarks are concerned, the T200 managed to score around 25,000 points which is pretty much par for the course for devices with the hardware configuration of the T200.

That’s it for this unboxing. You can expect the full review sometime this week (or early next week) as we take this bad boy out for a spin.
