Watch: Intel Compute Stick (2016) and Skull Canyon Hands-on, First Impressions

Check out Intel’s two newest products in action

Last Thursday Intel officially launched two of their newest products here in the PH: the newest version of their Compute Stick and the Skull Canyon NUC. While both products don’t have SRPs as of yet, we managed to get some brief hands-on time with the two devices.

Last year’s version of the Compute Stick wasn’t quite ready for primetime, but Intel’s been hard at work trying to improve on the computer on a stick concept to a point where most people would want to own one. After handling their newest version a few nights ago, we’re impressed at how much the concept has been improved. We’re equally impressed at Intel’s willingness to listen to constructive feedback to create an even better product.

On the other hand, we’re a little confused about Intel’s Skull Canyon NUC (Next Unit of Computing) – it’s essentially a compact, powerful desktop computer that’s no bigger than a notebook (the one you actually write on) with more computing power than their previous offerings. It’s probably able to tackle more challenging computing tasks, though hardcore gamers may want to look elswhere since it needs an external GPU (like Razer’s Core) to stand out when gaming with more modern titles.

Anyway, take a look at our video hands-on above of the two products and see for yourself what Intel has been up to.
