External storage without wires? Yes, it’s possible!

Western Digital has released in the PH its new My Passport Wireless external HDDs. As the name suggests, the My passport Wireless allows you to connect to the device sans wires, as it’s capable of broadcasting its own wireless network, and allows up to 8 devices to connect to it at any given time. It can also connect to your home network much like WD’s other products, allowing you to access your files on the drives via the cloud. There’s even a convenient SD card reader that’s built into the external drives, so you can just plug in your SD card and transfer your files directly to it without having to go through a computer. If you’re transferring really large files, the USB 3.0 port will allow you to quickly move files without too much trouble.

The new drive also has an internal, rechargeable battery built-in which WD says can give you around  6 hours of continuous video streaming and up to 20 hours of standby use from the device. It’s also perfect for professional photographers with WiFi enabled cameras as they can connect to the drive and just dump all the photos they’re taking in it. Convenient, isn’t it?
