Professional Grade In-Ear Headphones
The Westone UM Pro series was announced last August this year. The series had three offerings: the UM 10, 20, and 30. Each product had a different set of benefits and features that would cater to musicians and audiophiles. Westone’s local distributor, Digits Trading, sent us a review unit of the Westone UM Pro 10 and we’d like to share with you guys a quick review.
According to Westone, the UM Pro 10 is a single balanced armature in-ear headphones made for on-stage monitoring for musicians. This means that the emphasis would really be on the mids and highs and it’s geared for detail and clarity more than bass or power. That’s exactly the kind of quality that we got from it in the last two weeks that we’ve been using it. Bass is on the weak side but the mids and highs are just heavenly! The UM Pro 10 is ideal for tracks from artists like Jason Mraz and Sting. It’s also a solid performer when it comes to live or acoustic songs.
If you’re more into bass-heavy songs we suggest you either get a portable amplifier that will boost the bass or get an equalizer app like Power Amp so you can customize how the earphones deliver the audio.
Other than the sound quality, the Westone UM Pro 10 also has Westone True-Fit technology which ensures maximum comfort. According to what we’ve researched, all UM Pros are actually hand-crafted in the USA (whoa) so you can rest assured of the quality. If you also check the build of the cable, the line near the ear is harder and curved so that it secures the in-ear headphones when being used. This is actualled called “Up & Over Cable Routing”.
As added value to the package, Westone also threw in a hard plastic portable carrying case in orange. They also bundled a bunch of silicon and Comply tips in different sizes. Just try them all until you find the one that gives you the best snug fit.
If you’re a huge music fan you should really invest in good high-quality earphones/headphones. The Westone UM Pro Series 10 is a great buy for people who are more into vocals, instruments, and melodies versus bass.
The Westone UM Pro Series 10 is now available in the Philippines through Beyond the Box and Digital Walker. SRP is somewhere around Php9,000-Php10,000 (we will confirm exact amount and post it here soon).
