3 Kick-Ass Games from GamesCom 2017

So Many Games, So Little Time

While our focus may have been on Samsung’s launch of their Galaxy Note 8, Gamescom 2017 was also happening in Cologne, Germany. While we were introduced to a lot of brand new titles and updates to some of the top triple-A games we currently enjoy, we’ve narrowed down our picks for the games we are currently looking forward to in the next few months.

Here are our Top 3 Games from Gamescom 2017!

Monster Hunter World

We saw a glimpse of this game at E3 earlier this year and, thanks to Gamescom, we’ve been seeing a tremendous amount of gameplay vids on YouTube; building the hype for the game even further. We’ve been playing the monster hunting game on our 3DS for quite some time now and, suffice to say, this entry is shaping up to be the best one in the franchise and it’s just not because of the graphics that a PC, PlayStation 4, or the XBox One provides.

They’ve always made improvements with each iteration of the game, and Monster Hunter World adds new mechanics plus polishes up old ones to make it up to snuff for its new home on consoles and the PC. The game is set to be released in 2018 and this is a game that is definitely a day one purchase for us.

BioMutant

I’m big on action RPGs and this one by Experiment 101 and THQ Nordic immediately caught my eye while look for news on the convention in Germany; mostly due to the protagonist (we can’t quite tell what he is exactly), his diminutive size, and the world that surrounds him. Biomutant is set in a world where poisonous oil has crept up from the center of the planet and corrupts the Tree of Life and it’s up to our little protagonist to, of course, save the world.

BioMutant, however, is an open-world game and you can choose whether or not you’ll play the game as a straight arrow or an anti-hero. As is the case with action RPGs, you can also build your hero differently by changing its looks and size or even switch out body parts and weapon add-ons to take on the world and the creatures with in it.

Assassins Creed: Origins

What? Another Assassin’s Creed Game? Yup. Though you may be a little tired of the series from Ubisoft, we’re curious to see how they’re going to refresh the franchise whose first game was released 10 years ago. Well, that and how the epic struggle between the Assassins and the Templars actually came about. Assasins Creed: Origins is set in Egypt and retains most of what we’ve come to know and love about the series.

The biggest change to the game we’ve been hearing about is the combat system. Ubisoft has switched over to a hit box system in Origins and with what we’ve seen on YouTube, players will now have to be more cautious about weapon ranges, speeds, and what type of attacks they use. Assassin’s Creed: Origins is set to be released late in October, so the wait for this game isn’t too bad.

And those were our top picks from the games featured at Gamescom 2017. Did we miss anything? Leave a comment down below for the games you’re most excited about seeing.
