Bane 1/6th Scale Figure from TDKR by Hot Toys

“We will destroy Gotham and then, when it is done and Gotham is ashes, then you have my permission to die.” – Bane

Bane is one of our all-time favorite villains in the Batman universe. His brute strength, ruthless killer instinct, and keen intellect makes him a very formidable opponent. That’s why we were so excited when we first heard that Bane would be the main villain in the last Batman movie (The Dark Knight Rises). Unfortunately we didn’t really like how Bane was portrayed there. Not only was it so difficult to understand what he was saying, his back story was just too weird.

We didn’t really have any plans of collecting figures from The Dark Knight Rises but a good friend of ours was letting go of a couple of figures he had from the series at good prices so we ended up getting them, hehe.

Gotta Love the Mask and his Coat!

Hot Toys definitely nailed the mask of Bane and his head sculpt with this figure. It looks so much like the Bane in TDKR played by Tom Hardy! With the mask they were able to capture all the small details including the lines along the various tubes. We also liked the facial expression that they used — very cold, calculating, and deadly. Perfect for Bane!

The figure also has the same brown coat that we saw Bane wearing in a lot of scenes in the movie. The coat is removable but the figure looks much better with it on due to the details like the fur lining along the lapels and the various buttons and straps.

The figure is also very posable thanks to over 30 points of articulation. Even with the leather trench coat on we still didn’t have a hard time having Bane strike different poses.

Unfortunately we couldn’t seem to get that famous Bane pose of him holding the straps of his fast with both hands with his coat on. That would have been the perfect pose while having the figure on display, hehe.

Where did all the muscle go?

What was disappointing for us though was Bane’s body sculpt. When we removed the trench coat we were expecting to see his imposing figure. However we found him a little bit too lanky. His shoulders definitely could’ve used more work (make it broader) and the biceps also could have been a little bigger.

His green combat vest though looked amazing! Just like the brown trench coat/jacket, the vest was peppered with all the small details. It was a great compliment to his grey military pants and dark green combat boots.

For the extra accessories, the figure came with the iconic broken Batman cowl and a nice base with a metal name plate.

Over-all we’re pretty satisfied with the Bane 1/6 figure from Hot Toys. The body sculpt definitely could use some improvements but the level of detail in Bane’s clothes made up for this big time.

Looking Forward to Completing TDKR Series

We’re definitely looking forward to completing the figures from TDKR. We actually already have Selina Kyle (played by Anne Hathaway) so watch out for our feature on that figure very soon.
