There’s finally a local presence for the social media giant

Facebook, that social network that we all can’t live without, has officially established a physical presence in the Philippines. The company has opened the doors to their first local PH office somewhere in BGC. DAn Neary, Facebook’s vice president of Asia Pacific, also took the time to share some interesting statistics on FB’s performance in the PH.

According to him, 49 million Pinoys use Facebook every month, which comprises 91% of the local internet population. He also observes that the country is “a highly engaged mobile-first nation, and has been sharing the unique moments that matter on Facebook with their friends and family, be it life milestones or a trending video. 2 in 3 Filipinos are connected a business Page on Facebook, and they’re using the platform to discover new brands and products”.

There’s already a local team on the ground to help coordinate with local businesses, made up of local industry vets – Digs Dimagiba, former Samsung IM Business Unit Director, Chay Modejar-Saputil, formerly from Wunderman Philippines and Microsoft, Laurie Lee, formerly of Digital FCB and Publicis Jimenez Basic, Melissa Manay, formerly of MeidaCom and Pam Chan, formerly from Asian Institute of Management and Procter & Gamble. The local reps are there to facilitate ad sales and marketing for the social media giant.
