New game improves gameplay and graphics

With Flappy Bird gone, many developers are trying to cash in the craze, creating clones of the game that offer nothing more than a mere reskin of the ridiculously hard mobile app. But for Patrick and Camy Cabral, they decided to take the basic mechanics of the game and improve on it, and thus the truly Filipino game Pugo was born.

While Pugo shares the same gameplay mechanics of Flappy Bird (you repeatedly tap on the screen to make the hefty pugo fly), the game isn’t merely a clone. For one, the couple improved the art of the game, going from simple sprites to more sophisticated graphics. Navigating through the forest and trees (which replaces the pipes) is also a bit easier, as there’s more room to manuever. You can also collect Philippine flags to prolong your life.

You can grab pugo for free at iTunes. The developers of Pugo state that the Android version will be ready in 2-3 weeks.
