Final Fantasy XIII-2 OST will feature Charice

Charice to lend her voice to Final Fantasy XIII-2

Charice Pempengco to sing OST of Final Fantasy XIII-2

It seems child prodigy and Filipino-pride Charice Pempengco is breaking new borders akin to what Lea Salonga did when she was tasked to sing the main theme of Disney’s Aladdin “A whole new world”. The difference is Charice is lending her voice not for a Walt Disney animated movie but for a massive gaming franchise by Square Enix!

In the direct sequel to the PS3 smash hit Final Fantasy XIII, Charice’s song “New World” will be the English version theme song for Final Fantasy XIII-2. In the first game, Leona Lewis’s “My Hands” was the game’s closing credit song for the English release version. Will Charice’s song hold up against the high expectation of fans? From the reactions seen in various forums it seemed fans of both Final Fantasy and of Charice are jeering with excitement. Charice’s song “New World” will be available in her latest album Infinity which will be released sometime this year (October in Japan).

Here’s the full news from Final Fantasy Network. Here’s the announcement video:
