Gaara Cross Over with Kanetsugu Naoe

This new Gaara 1/7th scale pre-painted figure is quite possibly one of the most bad ass iterations of the young Kazekage! Made by ULTIMATE MODELING COLLECTION FIGURE (UMCF), this is Gaara wearing what looks like Samurai armor, complete with Katana and a Shogun Samurai helmet. We did more research on this and apparently the makers of Naruto are working on figures of their characters inspired by real-life samurai during the Warring States period in Japan. This figure of Gaara is actually influenced by real-life samurai Kanetsugu Naoe (thus the long name in the title above).

Here’s a photo of Kanetsugu Naoe that we found online which we can all use as a reference for the armor design:

They definitely got the helmet and the inner armor spot on. The only noticeable difference would be the absence of the white/blue robe. Here are close up shots of the armor Gaara is wearing as well as the helmet. Notice that the sign in the helmet is identical to what the helmet is in the photo above.

The figure is made mostly from PVC and ABS and has no articulation. It’s really more of a statue than an action figure. You can remove the helmet and sheathe the sword but that’s pretty much all that you can do. The good news though is that the figure by itself looks soooooo kick ass and the attention to detail is amazing!

For example we have Gaara’s iconic sand gourd. The sand base actually has a stand showing what looks like Shukaku’s hand holding up the gourd!

Standing around 12-inches tall, this isn’t your typical small figurine. It looks amazing when put in a display shelf and makes for a fantastic collector’s item. There are also only a limited number of these out in the local market so if you’re a big Naruto fan and a collector, this one is simply a must have.

Unfortunately it doesn’t come cheap, haha! SRP is somewhere around Php7,000. We got ours from GreatToysOnline.com (their Annapolis branch is our all-time favorite toy shop). Hopefully the line becomes successful though so we see more Naruto characters in Japanese samurai armors! Would love to collect the whole line!
