Almost everybody who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s knows about the game Contra, and by extension, the infamous Konami code. It’s seared so deeply into our minds that even if we get hit with a wrench and suddenly get amnesia, we’ll still be able to recall the Konami code.
That’s why many of you will be happy to learn that the notoriously difficult game is heading to both Android and iOS soon. Konami has teamed up with Tencent for Contra Mobile, and if the trailer (that’s in 480p wut) is any indication it’ll be as frenetic as the original.

One thing that does worry us is that the game will feature microtransactions, or in-app purchases. Now we’re not exactly sure if IAPs cover cosmetic items or unlocking weapons/lives, but we’re hoping it’s the former rather than the latter. In any case, at least there’s another Contra game in the works, though it’s not clear as of yet if it’ll be seen by Western audiences.
