Here’s another music streaming service for you!

We’ve been trying out Deezer, a new music service for a few days now, and we’re really liking it so far. Deezer is a streaming music service much like its main international rival Spotify, though Deezer has the advantage of being available in more countries compared to Spotify. It’s available in all devices, including tablets and PCs.

The user experience is largely the same on all platforms, and the app is generally easy to navigate. Deezer covers all the basics, and you can explore music by genres and regions. The company is also working on the explore via record labels and eras as well.

The ‘Hear This’ tab is a way for you to discover new music suggested by Deezer Editors, though you can also do the same via the Explore tab. There’s also a number of local artists on tap, as well as other Asian artists that you can find via the regions tab. Been binging on our favorite local artists all morning since downloading Deezer, hehe. Because of its global reach, music “editors” and unique algorithm, Deezer allows you to discover new tracks that you wouldn’t have otherwise.

There’s also an offline mode that allows you to synch your favorite albums, playlists or tracks, which is useful if you know you’re going on a trip where internet access is spotty or if you simply want to save bandwidth.

We were surprised to learn that Deezer has a bigger music library compared to its rival Spotify. Deezer boasts around 30 million songs in its expansive music library, compared to Spotify’s 20 million.

Deezer also has a list of third-part apps that enhances the music experience. Soundrop for example, allows you talk with other people as well as discover music from around the world.

One nice thing about Deezer is that you can actually sync playlists and songs to your device as well as set the app to stream audio in high quality without subscribing to the premium plan, since you’re treated to a free 15-day trial when you download the app.  That’s a plus for people who still want to explore the app before committing to the Php 250 subscription fee.
