A Lion Has iflix’s Back

Last we heard from Southeast Asia’s leading Internet TV service, iFlix, they had just formed a partnership with local television giant, GMA 7. It seems they have no intention of relinquishing their spot and are continuing to solidify it as they have just announced that one of the most prestigious production and distribution companies in Hollywood, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), has decided to join the iFlix family as a strategic investor.

While MGM has already partnered up with the service by providing licenses to some of their content, the investment can only bring about good things for iFlix and its subscribers. The backing of MGM and the appointment of its Chairman and CEO, Gary Barber, to the iFlix Advisory Board, adds significant weight to the still budding service in the region and serves as a clear cut sign to their commitment to bring its subscriber base premium content to add to their 20,000 movies and television episodes.

iflix Group CEO, Mark Britt said: “We are thrilled to have a studio partner and strategic investor of MGM’s caliber join the iflix family. MGM’s substantial weight, influence and resources in the industry will be a critical advantage for us in the development and execution of our strategy as we look to solidify our leadership in the region and expand into new markets.“

Now that iFlix has a lion in their corner, we can definitely look forward to other studio partnerships and the like to help bolster their growing library. Congratulations to the team at iFlix. Keep it coming, guys!
