Microsoft Is Killing Off Paint

OH NOE

Microsoft is killing off Paint.

You read that right – Microsoft’s next Windows 10 update, dubbed Autumn Creators Update will officially nix one of the longest running Windows features in history – Microsoft Paint.

According to the Guardian, Microsoft has tagged MS Paint as a deprecated feature, and as such will not be in active development and might be removed in future releases. That means there’s a good chance that when the new update drops, MS Paint gets killed off, forever.

Paint has been around ever since Windows was a thing, first debuting alongside Windows 1.0 back in 1985. While there’s been an incredible growth in the number of easy to use, free photo editing tools that’s available to download on the web, Microsoft Paint’s ease of use and simple utility has made it a mainstay of most people’s editing arsenal. Microsoft’s pushing a replacement of sorts in their Paint 3D app that was introduced in the Windows 10 Creators update earlier this year, but it hasn’t gained as wide as an appeal as the OG Paint app.

When you update your PC later on this year and Paint disappears, you know why.
