No More DOTA in One Barangay in Cavite

You know that question, DoTA o ako? Well, apparently you don’t have a choice in Barangay Salawag in Dasmariñas, Cavite. According to a report in 24-Oras, the popular mod (now a full fledged game) is now banned in the said barangay, according to an ordinance that has been implemented by the local government.

Barangay officials said that the game causes distractions young’uns in their studies, and that the the game has already caused deaths in the area.

“Mayroong dalawang namatay na ang pinagmulan ay sa mga computer shop nang galing ‘yung pag aaway. Nalaman namin na ito pala’y naglalaro ng games sa computer shop at isa nga dito ‘yung sinasabi nila na DotA,” Salawag Bgry. Captain Eric Paredes said during the interview.

Additionally, barangay officials also added that the game is a bad influence and makes young people participate in video game gambling and violence.

Any computer shop caught violating the ban will be subject to 2 months suspension for the first offence. Computer shops caught for the second offense will be closed while those who violate the law for a third time will be revoked of their barangay business clearance.
