Meet The Baris from the Tannery
Looks like there are a lot of bag fans here on Unbox since our post about the private sale of The Tannery this coming weekend got a lot of shares and likes! We also received several messages on our Facebook Page asking for us to review a bag and see if the quality is good. Fortunately the nice folks over at The Tannery were willing to put their products to the test and they sent us one of their messenger bags called The Baris.
The Baris is a messenger bag with a top handle and an adjustable long strap. You can use it either as a briefcase (with the handle) or as a sling bag. It has two buckles that keep the flap closed (just press to lock or unlock).
The material used for the bag is called “Altamira Natural Crunch”. This is fine processed leather from cows that has natural flaws which gives it a very rugged look and feel. It’s actually not that heavy and it feels very nice when you glide your hands over it. Over time the leather of the bag should gain more character which makes each bag kinda unique.
The insides of the bag are unlined which is meant to show off the back side of the premium leather. It has a zippered pocket as well as two compartments on either side. The Baris can easily fit a 15-inch MacBook Pro. Accessories and other gadgets can go in the zippered pocket or the other compartment.
While we love the style and how light the Baris is, we’re a bit hesitant to use it everyday with our laptop because it’s not really meant to absorb blows, bumps, and drops. The leather looks and feels awesome but it’s not meant for full protection. That said, make sure you have a sleeve on your laptop or tablet if you’re going to carry it daily in the Baris.
The Baris is available at the online store of the Tannery for Php8,600. If you’re thinking of getting one though better hold off until the private sale this weekend. You might be able to get it at a better price. 🙂
